Bangladesh won four gold medals in the 23rd International Robot Olympiad
The 16-member Bangladesh Robot Olympiad team won four gold, two silver, five bronze and four technical medals at the 23rd International Robot Olympiad. Misbah Uddin Inan and Jaima Zahin Wara of the Robo Sparkers in the Junior Group in the Robot in Movie category; Nashitat Zainah Rahman and Kazi Mostahid Labib of the Robotigers in the Challenge Group;
in the Creative category, Jaria Musarrat of the Robostas team and in the Challenge Group, Rafihat Saleh, Tafsir Tahrim and Mahir Tajwar Chowdhury won the gold medals.
Mahruj Mohammad Ayman of Aus team won the silver medal in the junior group in the creative category and Mir Umaima Haque and Prapa Haldar of the We team won the silver medal in the challenge group in the physical computing category.
Rafihat Saleh and Tafsir Tahrim of Robo Squad and Mahir Tajwar Chowdhury of Team-X56 won bronze in the Robot in Movie competition. In the creative category, Misbah Uddin Inan and Jaima Zahin Wara of Robo Sparkers in the junior group and Nashitat Zainah Rahman and Kazi Mostahid Labib of the robotigers team in the challenge group and Ragib Yasar Rahman and Arefin Anwar of the Tiger-61 team got bronze medals.
Jaria Musarrat of Robustas team in the junior group and Mir Umaima Haque and Prapa Haldar in the challenge group and Zahra Mahjarin Purbali and Zaiba Mahzabin of the macro team won technical medals in the robot in movie competition. In the Challenge Group in the Creative category, Zahra Mahzarin Purbali and Zaiba Mahzabin of the Macaro team won technical medals.
The International Robot Olympiad competition was held online this year amid COVID-19 pandemic situation; The Olympiad is controlled from Daegu, South Korea. A 16-member Bangladesh team participated in the 23rd International Robot Olympiad from 15 to 18 December from BCS Innovation Center in the capital. The theme for this year's International Robot Olympiad was Social Robots.
Earlier in 2018, Bangladesh participated in the International Robot Olympiad for the first time and won one gold, one technical medal and two highly commanded medals. In 2019, Bangladesh team won one gold, two silver, six copper and one technical medal and in 2020 Bangladesh team won two Gold, two silver, five bronze and six technical medals.
The 4th Bangladesh Robot Olympiad 2021 was organized this year by the Department of Information and Communication Technology, Department of Robotics and Mechatronics Engineering, University of Dhaka and Bangladesh Open Source Network and in collaboration with the implementation of Bangladesh Computer Council. In the national phase 1124 students from 64 districts of the country participated in this competition. An international robot team selection camp was organized with the winners selected from among the winners of the national event. A 16-member Bangladesh team was selected on the basis of the test and performance of the students who took part in the camp.
Lafifa Jamal, the President of Bangladesh Robot Olympiad Committee and the Central Committee member of International Robot Olympiad Committee thanked the State Minister for Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, the Department of Information Technology and Bangladesh Computer Council for their overall support in winning the gold medal and participation of Bangladesh team.
